Boomerang
A boomerang is a hard, wooden object. It is made in a special shape for throwing. It can move through the air quickly. A boomerang is supposed to come back to you when you throw it. To get it to fly in a circle back to you, you have to throw it just right. When it comes back, you can catch it. Throwing a boomerang takes skill and practice. At first, it will be hard to guess where the boomerang will fly. That’s why it’s important to practice in a wide-open area like a park. You don’t want to hit a person or animal with the boomerang. That would hurt!
Always throw a boomerang overhand like a baseball. You pinch it between your thumb and forefinger. Snap your wrist at the end of the throw. This creates some spin when you release the boomerang. The boomerang spins so quickly. It looks like a little tornado!
The most exciting part of the toss is the catch. When the boomerang flies back to you, catch it with both hands. It’s like catching a Frisbee. This catch works best if the boomerang is flying low. If the boomerang is higher, you’ll have to jump up in the air! Then you can try to grab it with one hand.
Throwing a boomerang can be great fun. It also gives you plenty of exercise. You get the most exercise when the boomerang doesn’t return to you. You will have to run all over the open field to get the boomerang back! Then you can throw it again. Playing with a boomerang is an exciting activity for a group of friends. Just remember to be safe and have fun!
