Mangroves exist in an ecosystem that is subject to variations in salinity, tide, and nutrients. A. schaueriana and L. racemosa exist in salt marsh and riverside mangrove ecosystems. These plants show poorer development near salt marshes than plants of the same species near riverside habitats. Mangroves favor riverside habitats and develop more fully near them.
